BEFORE

18+

Physical Development: Before adulthood, the body is still growing and changing. Getting a tattoo too early can lead to distortion as the skin stretches, which may affect the design and overall aesthetic over time.

Risk of Regret: Tastes, interests, and personal identities evolve, especially during teenage years. Many young people who get tattoos before 18 end up regretting their choices as their preferences change.

Professional and Social Implications: Certain careers and industries have restrictions on visible tattoos. Making an impulsive decision at a young age could lead to professional limitations in the future.

MUST NOT BE PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING

Impact of Stress and Pain: The pain and stress associated with getting a tattoo can trigger an increase in adrenaline and cortisol levels. This physiological response may have unintended effects on the baby, particularly during pregnancy, when stress should be minimized.

Healing and Immune Response: The body undergoes numerous physiological changes during pregnancy and postpartum recovery. These changes can slow down the healing process, increasing the likelihood of complications such as excessive swelling, prolonged irritation, or improper healing.

Risk of Ink Contamination in Breast Milk: Although no conclusive studies confirm that tattoo ink can transfer into breast milk, the possibility cannot be ruled out. Since an infant’s developing body is highly sensitive to external substances, it is best to avoid unnecessary risks.

NO KNOWN MEDICAL CONDITIONS eg. DIABETIC, UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY

Individuals with medical conditions such as diabetes or those undergoing chemotherapy have a higher risk of complications, including slow healing, infections, and adverse reactions. If you have any medical concerns, please consult your doctor before booking an appointment.

MUST NOT BE USING RETIN-A OR ALPHAHYDROXYL ON FACE

Retin-A and AHAs increase skin cell turnover and can make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation. Using these products before tattooing may cause excessive redness, discomfort, and poor healing. It’s recommended to discontinue their use prior to your appointment.

MUST NOT BE TAKING ANY ANTIBIOTICS OR ON WARFARIN/ASPIRIN/IBUPROFEN

These medications thin the blood, increasing the risk of excessive bleeding during the tattooing process. Excessive bleeding can affect ink absorption and result in poor healing or patchy results. If you are on any of these medications, consult your doctor before scheduling an appointment.

IF YOU HAVE BEEN ON PRESCRIPTION ACCUTANE- MUST BE OFF IT FOR MINIMUM 1 YEAR

Accutane (isotretinoin) severely affects skin healing and increases sensitivity, making the tattooing process more painful and risky. To prevent complications, you must wait at least one year after stopping Accutane before getting a tattoo.

YOU ARE NOT A CANDIDATE IF YOU ARE PRONE TO KELOID SCARRING

If your skin is prone to keloid formation (raised, thickened scars), tattooing may trigger excessive scar tissue growth. Since tattoos involve controlled skin trauma, keloid-prone individuals should avoid the procedure to prevent unwanted scarring.

MUST NOT HAVE HAD BOTOX/FILLER WITHIN 3 WEEKS OF TATTOO APPOINTMENT

Botox and dermal fillers alter the skin's structure and positioning. Tattooing over freshly treated areas may lead to uneven results, as the skin settles differently once the effects of Botox or fillers wear off. To ensure optimal results, wait at least three weeks after any injectable treatment before getting a tattoo.

NO ALCOHOL FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS BEFORE

Avoiding alcohol for at least 12 hours before getting a tattoo is essential because alcohol thins the blood, leading to excessive bleeding, poor ink absorption, and a higher risk of infection. It also dehydrates the skin, making it more sensitive and prone to irritation, which can increase pain during the session. Additionally, alcohol impairs judgment and coordination, making it harder to sit still and potentially resulting in regrets about the design choice. To ensure the best results, proper healing, and a smooth tattooing process, it’s important to stay hydrated and avoid substances that affect your body’s natural response.
