AFTER

Congratulations on your new tattoo! Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting quality. As your tattoo artist, I want to provide you with the best guidance for maintaining your tattoo in a safe and effective manner.

Immediate Aftercare (First Few Hours)
-
Leave the protective bandage on for at least 2-4 hours, as it helps prevent bacteria from entering the fresh wound.
-
Once you remove the bandage, wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap before touching your tattoo.
-
Gently clean the tattooed area using lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, antibacterial soap. Do not scrub or use a washcloth.
-
Pat dry with a clean paper towel or allow it to air dry. Avoid using regular towels as they may harbor bacteria.
-
Apply a thin layer of a recommended tattoo-specific healing ointment. Avoid petroleum-based products as they can clog pores.
Critical Healing Stage (First Week)
-
Clean the tattoo 2-3 times daily with mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap and lukewarm water.
-
Always apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment to keep it hydrated, but do not over-moisturize.
-
Do not scratch, pick, or peel any scabs that form. This can cause patchy healing and color loss.
-
Keep the tattoo protected from direct sunlight and avoid tight clothing that might cause friction.
-
Avoid swimming, soaking in bathtubs, saunas, or exposing your tattoo to excessive moisture.
Continued Aftercare (Week 2 and Beyond)
-
Your tattoo will begin peeling or flaking; this is normal. Let it heal naturally without interference.
-
Transition from ointment to a fragrance-free moisturizer to maintain hydration.
-
Always use a high SPF sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher) when exposing the tattoo to the sun to prevent fading.
-
Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattooed area to prevent irritation.
-
Avoid swimming in pools, the ocean, or any body of water for at least one month to prevent infections and ensure proper healing.
Long-Term Tattoo Care
-
Keep your skin moisturized to maintain the vibrancy of your tattoo.
-
Avoid prolonged sun exposure and always apply sunscreen to prevent premature fading.
-
Stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet for overall skin health.
-
If you notice excessive redness, swelling, pus, or prolonged discomfort, consult a medical professional immediately.
